Obituaries Elizabeth J. 'Betty' Greenwood May 12, 1931 June 1, 2003 PICKWICK, abeth J. "Betty' Greenwood Minn. ElizGreenwood, 72, of Pickwick died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at her home. She was born in Winona on May 12, 1931, the daughter of Valentine and Mary (Gliszczynsky) Modjeski.

Betty married George J. Cierzan in 1950; they were later divorced. On July 28, 1962, she married LeRoy D. Greenwood in lowa, and he preceded her in death June 13, 1999. Betty was a helper for Barb's Catering and also for Steak Shop Catering.

She is a member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Winona. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved to fish. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Twins and Vikings. Betty was a loving mom and homemaker, who will be missed by her family.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Jack) Thornton, Columbia Heights, Rebecca (Lee) Karwoski, Fredericksburg, and Brenda McNally, Winona; six grand- children, Kelly and Benjamin Thornton, Jill and Anthony Karwoski, and Bryan and Patrick McNally; three brothers, Valentine (Bernadine) Modjeski, Gerald (Barbara) Modjeski and Richard Modjeski all of Winona; three sisters, Genevieve (William) Thompson, Mercer, Ruth Thilmany, Winona; and Dolores Wraalstad, Oconomowoc, Wis. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Barbara Cierzan; and six brothers and sisters. Funeral services for Betty will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2003 at St. Matthew's Evangelical Church, Winona, with the Rev.

James Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Pick wick (Minn.) Cemetery. Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Thursday, from 12:30 p.m. to the time of services at 1:30 p.m.

Scharr Jan. 8, 1950 June 2, 2003 ALMA, Wis. Richard J. Scharr, 53, of Alma died Monday, June 2, 2003, at his home. He was born Jan.

8, 1950, in Winona to Wallace and Lois (Bohlinger) Scharr. On Oct. 24, 1974, he married Cynthia Steinke at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. He worked at Dairyland Power Co-op in Alma from July 1974 through the present.

Rich lived his life to the fullest. He loved the river, fishing walleyes and panfish, as well as boating. He also enjoyed deer hunting, golfing and Corvettes. He enjoyed and respected honest people. He was a member of Alma Rod and Gun club and St.

John Lutheran Church in Alma. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Scharr of Alma; daughter Sally Scharr of Alma; his mother, Lois Scharr of Nelson, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Jane McDonough. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2003, at St.

John Lutheran Church in Alma with the Rev. Joel Bacon officiating. Burial will be in Nelson Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Alice Passonneau Johnson passed away June 1, 2003, while at her home in Virginia Beach. She was born May 31, 1925, in Litchfield, Minn. She graduated valedictorian from Atwater. High School in Atwater, Minn. She initially attended Macalaster College and then transferred to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, from which she graduated with a degree in English.

DIA, Wis. Romuald "Roman" Losinski, 83, of Trempealeau, passed away at his home Monday, June 2, 2003.

He was born Feb. 25, 1920, in Arcadia, to Jacob and Catherine (Meyer) Losinski. On Oct. 21, 1947, Roman married Dorothy Kline at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, Wis. Roman farmed his entire life.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served as a director on the A-G Creamery Board in Arcadia. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed gardening and visiting friends and relatives. Roman is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dorie" Losinski of Trempealeau; three sons, Robert (Sue) Losinski and James (Cassandra) Losinski, both of Arcadia and David Losinski of Trempealeau; five grandchildren, Eric, Matt, Chad, Vicki and Douglas Losinski; two sisters, Theresa (Chancy) Kline of Dodge, and Paula Rogalla of Cudahy, and two brothers, Harry Losinski of Pigeon Falls, Wis, and Eugene Losinski of Arcadia. Preceding Roman in death were his parents; a twin brother; three sisters, Margaret, Cecilia, and Eleanor; and one grandson, Jason. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m.
