RECORD THURSDAY, October 1, 2009 winonadailynews.com OBITUARIES Benjamin APRIL 24, 1963 ROLLINGSTONE, Minn. Benjamin Paul Pasche, 46, of rural Rollingstone died Monday morning, Sept. 28, 2009, at his home. Ben was born April 24, 1963, in Winona to James and Pasche Antoinette "Toni" (Tlougan) Pasche. He graduated from Lewiston-Altura High School in 1981.

On Dec. 5, 1981, Ben and Roxanne Vick were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Silo. They made their home in rural Rollingstone, where Ben was a dairy farmer. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norton Township and served as church treasurer. Ben was an avid NASCAR fan, cheering for his favorite driver, Kevin Harvick.

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ben also enjoyed taking his naps with Schlick the family cat. Survivors include his wife, Roxanne; six children, Carman (Andrew) Mueller of Lewiston, Joshua Pasche of Rollingstone, Mitchell Pasche (special friend Katie Reed) of Rollingstone, Sarah Pasche of Winona, Alex Mary E. Mary E. Voelker, 83, of Winona died Tuesday, Sept.

29, 2009, at Community Memorial Voelker. Hospital. She had been a resident of Callista Court for the past 10 years. She was born July 2, 1926, in Warren Township, Winona County, to John and Florence (Beech) Burns. On Feb.

18, 1952, she was united in marriage with Jerome P. "Pat" Voelker at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hart, Minn. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1989.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mary had been employed by Watkins, Warner-SwaseyBadger Construction and TRW. Mary's faith was very important to her as she constantly prayed the Most Holy Rosary and faithfully attended daily Mass. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and always reaching out to others with an open door and greeting them with a smile.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who was also extremely close to her family. Paul Pasche SEPT. 28, 2009 Pasche of Winona and Nicole Pasche (special friend Eric Hilke) of Rollingstone; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Emma and Isabel Mueller; his parents, James and Toni Pasche of Altura; two brothers, Mike (Sandra) Pasche and Charles Pasche, both of Altura; two sisters, Peggy (Gene) Reps of Lewiston and Jill Pasche of Eyota; mother-in-law, Gloria Vick of Lewiston; two sisters-in-law, Cindy (John) Reynolds of Dodgeville, and Kristi (Dean) Reps of Utica; two brothers-inlaw, Mark (Vicki) Vick of Decorah, lowa, and Brian (Charla) Vick of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father-in-law and a sister-in-law. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.

Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston, with the Rev. David Eckert of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Norton. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, John Burns and Robert Burns; and sister, Elizabeth Hruska. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon Friday, Oct. 2, at St. Mary's Church. The Rev.

William Becker will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A visitation will be held at St. Mary's Church Visitation Commons on Friday, Oct.

The recipients include graduates and nongraduates who have achieved prominence in their chosen field or endeavor and who have made significant contributions to the university.

Donald Redlich earned his bachelor's degree in education from WSU in 1950 and did three years of graduate work in theater and dance at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Leaving for New York City in 1953, he spent the next 40 years pursuing a career in theRedlich ater and dance, both appearing in and choreographing numerous Broadway productions. He has taught at several universities in the New York area, including the Julliard School and Rutgers University, where he is professor emeritus in the Mason Gross School of the Arts. Regionally, he choreographed for Nancy Hauser Dance Company of Minneapolis, Mordine and Company of Chicago, Portland Dance Company, Albuquerque Dance Theatre, and internationally for the Bat-Dor Dance Company of Israel. For the past seven years he has mentored a choreographic workshop for: graduates of the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

He currently lives in Santa Fe, N.M. Jeanette Bergler holds three degrees from WSU: an associate. degree (1952) and a bachelor's and master's degree in elementary education and art Bergler education (1957 and 1964, respectively). She earned her educational specialist degree at the University of Minnesota in 1981. Bergler was an art teacher in Minnesota for 35 years.

From 1983-1986, Bergler also served as the elementary art curriculum developer for grades 1-6 in Rochester Public Schools. Bergler's artwork has been showcased at the Southeast Minnesota Visual Arts Radisson Gallery, and she has received blue ribbon awards in wood carving and painting. She has held offices in ADK Retired Teachers Organization, is a 50-year member of Alpha Delta Kappa and participates in WSU's Professor for a Day speaker series. Bergler, now retired, lives in Rochester, Minn. David Rubenstein graduated from WSU in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Rubenstein also earned minors in accounting and sociology. Rubenstein has been a business owner in Los Angeles for more than 21 years. After Rubenstein graduating from WSU, Rubenstein began working for Koboy-Reslabs Company a supplier of ammonia and related products. He was hired to develop the California division of Koboy and later managed the Chicago and Los Angeles divisions. In 1988, Rubenstein bought the California division and changed the name to Pacific Diazo Products.

The company is now the largest industrial supplier in the southwest. In 2007, he sold the company to a New York Stock Exchange Fortune 600 company. Rubenstein is a founder, investor, board member and chief operating officer of the first potential ethanol and renewable electricity facility in the county. He lives in Manhattan Beach, Kalene Engel graduated summa cum laude from WSU in 1990 with a bachelor's. degree in paralegal.

She lives in Fountain City, Wis. Steven Kohner attended WSU from 1964-1966.

While at WSU, he played football and received the Northern Sun All-Conference Award in 1966. From 1967-1970, Kohner served in the Army. Today, Kohner is selfemployed and owns: Modern Ready Mix and Modern Transport. From DuFresne there, he earned his DuFresne doctorate degree in administration and political science from the University of North Dakota in 1959. Since then, DuFresne has taught in public schools and was an English professor at Minnesota State University-Mankato. He was the chairman of the education division and director of teacher education at Kearney State University. He served as president of WSU from 1967- 1977.

After his presidency, he taught political science at WSU and served on the board of directors for several Winona organizations along with the Saint Mary's University Board of Regents. He has done political work overseas and participated as a visiting professor in England through St. Cloud State University's foreign studies program in 1982. DuFresne is now retired and lives in Winona. Daniel Hoyt graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1940.

While at DWU, Hoyt earned a minor in political science. Hoyt earned his master's degree in history School in La Crosse, from 1949-1951 before coming to WSU. At WSU, he was a professor of history, history department chairman, dean of graduate studies, interim director of the Registrar's Office and WSU professor emeritus. Hoyt is retired and lives in Winona. Crystal (Minn.) Cemetery.
