I RECORD WEDNESDAY, March 31, 2010 winonadailynews.com George A. Eid JAN. 10, 1922 MARCH 28, 2010 Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick. While residing in the Pigeon Falls area, George was treasurer of the town of Pigeon, served as director the Farm Bureau and was a member of the American Dairy Association, the Dairy Herd Improvement Association and the Pigeon Creek Watershed. He served on the church councils in Pigeon Falls and Blair and was a member of the Lions Club in Pigeon Falls, Blair and Spencer.

While residing in Blair, George was a member of the Blair Chamber of Commerce, served on the school board and was an active member of the Blair Cheese Festival committee, serving as parade chairman for a number of years and being bestowed the honor of presiding over the festivities as grand marshal. George also served on the Wilkie Board in Winona, and was an integral part of the restoration of the Wilkie steam engine. George is survived by his wife, Florence; six children, Robert (Nancy) of Shelbyville, Janet (David) Estenson of Eau Claire, Mary (Ronald) Everson of Cortez, Gilbert (Tami) Eid of Whitehall, Madeline Cecelia Tuxen MARCH 23, 1915 MARCH 29, 2010 birthday, how did you reach such an age? She replied, "Going to church, working hard and love your family." Madeline loved to watch birds, especially purple marlins. She also loved crafts such as Christmas decorations or any craft she could imagine, along with enjoying a good card game with family and friends. Madeline's greatest enjoyment was the time she would spend with her entire family.

She will be missed by all those who knew her. Madeline is survived by her two daughters, Cathy (Michael) Prondzinski and Betty (Dennis) Loeffler, both of Winona; three sons, Lawrence (Cheri) Tuxen of Alma, Andrew (Marge) Tuxen of Neenah, and Robert (Lynn) Tuxen of Cochrane; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, John; one daughter, Mary Heftman; IN THE SERVICE BLAIR, Wis. George Arnold Eid, 88, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Grand View Care Center in Blair. Eid George was born Jan.

10, 1922, in Pigeon Falls, to Albert and Emma (Johnson) Eid. He attended school in Pigeon Falls and Whitehall and technical school in Eau Claire, studying welding and machine. George married Florence Berge on June 15, 1945, in Pigeon Falls. In addition to farming, George was employed by Ellickson Welding and Machine in Pigeon Falls, where his reputation grew as an accomplished and well-respected welder and machinist. In 1978, his family moved to Blair, where he owned and operated Eid Welding and Machine.

Well after retirement, George continued to be called upon by many farmers and residents in the area for assistance. George was also a gifted artisan of stainless steel and metal work, creating treasured pieces for family and friends. A local monument of his work in the area is a stainless steel sculpture adhered to the face of the French Creek ALMA, Wis. Madeline Cecelia Tuxen, 95, of Alma passed away peacefully Monday, March 29, Tuxen 2010, under forting care of St. Anne's Extended Care of Winona.

She was born March 23, 1915, in Alma, a daughter of the late William and Regina (Marking) Averbeck. On Oct. 15, 1940, Madeline was united in marriage to John Tuxen at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma. To this union, seven children were born.

John preceded Madeline in death on Dec. 21, 2003. Madeline was a lifelong devoted member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she was active in the St. Rose Study Club and mission group.

As a homemaker, Madeline raised her family in faith and love, never missing church. When asked at her recent 95th Margaret (Bryan) Humphreys of Arvada, and Elizabeth (David) Gerard of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren, Jill, Kristal, Alissa, Stacy, Chris, Erik, Alex and Jacob; four greatgrandchildren, Meshell, MyQuahn, Colton and Breanne: two stepgrandchildren, Kelley and Sean; a brother, Vernon (Muriel) of Middleton; two sisters, Janice Klebig and Harriet (Gordon) Hong of Osseo, a sisterin-law, Helen Eid of Osseo; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon; and a brotherin-law, Byron Klebig. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery, both in Pigeon Falls.

Pastor Dale Moe will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. George's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Grand View Care Center in Blair for their compassionate care. one son, David Tuxen; along with three sisters, Liddie Gosse, Esther Gosse and Ella Passe; and three brothers, Rudy, Oscar, and Alvin; preceded Madeline in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, April 5, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, with Father Rick Roberts as celebrant. Burial will follow at Alma Public Cemetery. A time of visiting and support for Madeline's family will be held Monday, April 5, two hours prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Lawrence Catholic Church are appreciated. Talbot Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Alma Chapel, is honored to assist the Tuxen family. Madeline's family would like to take this opportunity to send a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at St. Anne's extended care for the loving and caring support given to her during her stay.

Sara Ann Comero, 83, of Cochrane passed away Monday, March 29, Comero 2010, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born May 24, 1926, in Mondena, a daughter of Otto and Sarah (Wick) Loewenhagen. On March 23, 1943, Sara was united in marriage to Jerome J.

Comero at Montana United Methodist Church, Town of Montana, Buffalo County, Wis. Jerome preceded Sara in death on May 10, 1994. To this union, eight children were born. Sara was a homemaker who took great pride in raising her family. Sara will long be remembered for her love of playing cards, bingo and the occasional trips to the casino.

Sara was a good-hearted lady with a good sense of humor who always liked a good joke. Survivors include her children, Allen (Patsy) Comero of Gilmanton, Beverly (Norman) Bork of Cream, Donald "Butch" (Cindy) Comero of Fountain City, John (Mary) Comero of Fountain City, Larry (Mary Lou) Comero of Buffalo City, Tom Comero of Modena, Betty Foster of Tucson and Diane (Robert) Mettille of Prairie du Chien, 19 grandchildren; 31 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Veryl Loewenhagen Sr. of Wabasha, and Martin "Chip" (Delores) Loewenhagen of Alma, two sisters, Donna Salwey of Waumandee, and Joan (Gaylord) Lewis of Buffalo City; also by brothers-in-law, sistersin-law, many nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 1, at Talbot Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Cochrane Chapel with the Rev.

Joel Bacon, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Alma, officiating. Visitation will be today, March 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday. Serving as pallbearers will be Sara's granddaughters, Marlene, Stacey, Holly, Christine, Heather, Heidi, Monica, Brenda and Kandee.
