A4 Wednesday, June 21, 2017 Winona Daily neWs 00 1 Marlene Esther Gamoke ARCADIA, Wis. Mar- lene Esther Gamoke, 86, died peacefully Sunday, June 18, 2017, at her home in Arcadia. She passed from us with the same dignity and grace with which she lived. Marlene was born on the farm in Fountain City, (Doelle Valley) Nov. 26, 1930, to Joseph and Leoba (Patzner) Wolfe.

Marlene graduated from Arcadia High School in 1948. She married Robert P. Gamoke June 10, 1952, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Arcadia. She resided in Arcadia for her entire life. She worked at the Dr.

Wm. English Dental Office. Robert died sud- denly June 1, 1974, when their youngest child was only 1 year old. After raising her family, she served as secretary for OLPH and Holy Family Parishes for many years until retirement. Marlene enjoyed traveling, having visited many states including Hawaii and Alaska.

A highlight for her was a trip to the Vatican. She loved spending time at the cottage on Blue Lake near Minocqua. She enjoyed being on a bowling and golf team. During re- tirement, she avidly worked on crossword and jigsaw puzzles and loved watching Brewers baseball. Marlene was a member of Holy Family Parish and its P.C.C.W.

Marlene was an avid homemaker, and gardener. She was known by her devoted family and friends for her optimism, quiet strength, generosity and concern for others. grace in all areas of her life will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her. With great love, she taught us responsibility, humility, and how to care for each other. Her legacy of humor and love for family and friends is assurance that she will never be forgotten.

Marlene is survived by her 13 children, Robert J. of Arcadia, Betty (Pat) Farritor of Sioux Falls, S.D., Wil- liam (Amanda) of Colby, Bonny (Steven) Mayer of Win- neconne, Ann Hancock of Eau Claire, Paul (Anne) of Plymouth, Peter of Arcadia, Ruth (Harold) Utecht of La Crosse, Edward (Kathy) of Plymouth, Susan Marsolek of Whitehall, Thomas (Rochelle) of Holmen, Mark (Mi- chelle) of Onalaska and Terry of Arcadia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michelle (Dennis) Harris, Emily (Doo) Seo, Ben Gamoke, Kath- erine (Marc Charles) Zautke, Amanda (Peter) Sandager, Mathieu and Chelsea Mayer, Allison, Marcus and Sarah Gamoke, McKayla Marsolek, Kyle and Jessica Gamoke, Emma, Olivia and Evan Gamoke; and one great-grand- child, Aiden Harris; two brothers, Marvin (Phyllis) Wolfe and Lloyd Wolfe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert one grandson, Harold Utecht; sib- lings, Tony, Clarence, Norbert, Linus, Gerald Wolfe, Dorothy Ruben; and son-in-law, Kenneth Mar- solek. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m.

Friday, June 23, at Holy Family Parish in Arcadia, with Father M. Amalanathan officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. rosary.

Jerome A. Sauerer Jerome A. Sau- erer, 86, of Winona passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 28, 1931, in Collegeville, to Carl and Eleanor Sauerer. On June 23, 1955, he was united in marriage with Mary Ann Schwieters at St.

Catholic Church in St. Joseph, Minn. Jerry worked at St. Abbey in Collegeville, for 21 years, and then relocated to Winona, where he operated the food service at St. College for over 30 years.

Following retirement, Jerry enjoyed working for the Watkowski Funeral Home in Winona. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stan- islaus Kostka. Jerry is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary Ann; children, Thomas (Carol) Sauerer, Winona, Bonnie (Steve) Francisco, Eagan, Elizabeth (Randy) Bloch, St. Cloud, Linda (David) Orzechowski, St.

Cloud; grandchildren, Amy (Kyle) Wi- nona, Brent Sauerer, Winona, Laura (Mike) Rehbein, Baltimore, Michael Lauren Turner) Bloch, Buffalo, Emily (Alex) Miller, Hampton, Sarah Bloch, St. Cloud, Philip Orzechowski, St. Cloud; great-grandchildren, Vaida Rehbein, Zander Rehbein, and Maelin brother, Roger (Tillie) Sauerer, Inver Grove Heights, special cousin, Joyce Bran- denburg, Apache Junction, sister-in-law, Mar- lene (Lawrence) Herickhoff, Woodbury, broth- ers-in-law, Clarence Schwieters, Rochester, Arnold (Linda) Schwieters, St. Paul, and Jerry (Kathy) Schwieters, Sartell, a chosen daughter, Marie Redican, Allentown, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sis- ters, Celine Norman and Kathleen Ostendorf; and five half-brothers, Elmer, Charles, Melvin, Leo, and Roman Sauerer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Reverends Richard Dernek, William Kulas, and Paul Breza will con-celebrate. Jerry will be laid to rest in St.

Cemetery. The Recitation of the most holy rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 23, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Fu- neral Home. Following the Rosary, visitation will con- tinue until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. It is respectfully suggested that memorials be di- rected to St.

Abbey in Collegeville, or to the Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn. Pallbearers will be: Jim Eddy, Eldie Fritz, Br. Mark Kelly, OSB, Ed Nix, Larry Dieterman, and Tim Tlougan.

Mueller, 100, of St. Charles died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Golden Living Center, St. Charles. Grace was born Dec. 12, 1916, in Saratoga, Minn.

to Henry and Minnie (Schuett) Wondrow. Grace attended Saratoga Schools and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1934. She began teaching for a year before she married Irwin Mueller Aug. 25, 1936.

The young loving couple had one daughter, Carmon. After Carmon was born, Grace took a break from teaching and helped Irwin around the farm for a few years before returning to her true passion. She taught for 30 years all together; five at rural school houses, seven in Eyota and 19 in Rochester where she won the naming contest of the new school being built. Her entry was Harriet Bishop, the person to start the first organized school in the Minnesota Territory. She received her in Education from Winona State University.

Outside of teaching, she loved to play 500 and bowl in her younger years. She also was a fantastic cook and baker. Grace won many awards at the Winona County Fair, which was another love of hers. She made wonder- ful roast beef and was great at getting her great-grand- children to eat slightly abnormal vegetables for a kid. She was active in the PTA, Senior Citizens Center and St.

Church. Grace is survived by her daughter, Carmon J. Rossow; grandson, Marti (Deb) Ellinghuysen; great-grandsons, Matthew (Jessica) Ellinghuysen, Joseph Ellinghuysen; and many nieces and nephews. Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Irwin; one brother; and three sisters; two sons-in-law. A visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m.

Thursday, June 22, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Services, St. Charles. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, at St. Matthews Church, St.

Elizabeth (Kingsley) Heim ST. CHARLES Eliz- abeth (Kingsley) Heim, 92, formerly of St. Charles died Tuesday eve- ning June 13, 2017, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Cen- ter in Plainview. Bette was born April 20, 1925, in Money Creek to Roy and Clara (Hennessy) King- sley. When Bette was 15 she moved with her family to a farm north of St.

Charles. There she met John Heim. They were married Tues- day, June 2, 1943. Together Bette and John farmed and operated Circle Ranch riding stables near Elba, as well as The Trading Post, a shop in Elba. She was always busy, cooking, baking, gardening and canning as she raised her family.

Bette was an excellent bowler, enjoyed read- ing, playing bingo and cards, making quilts, afghans and was a very talented stained glass artesian, winning many awards at the Winona County Fair. Bette also en- joyed an occasional trip to the casino. She was a dedi- cated member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba. Survivors include four children, Richard (Rita) Heim of Minneapolis, James (Karla) Heim of Green Valley, Sue (Dean) Mathison of St.

Charles and Patti (Pat) Ellringer of St. Charles; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Rita) Kingsley of Rochester; and a sister-in-law, Marge Kingsley of St. Charles. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2000; a son, John in 1970; an infant daughter in 1949; and siblings, Rob, Dorothy, Rete, Ruth, Margie and Charlie. A funeral Mass for Betty will be 10 a.m.

Saturday, June 24, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba with the Rev. Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.

Dog From A1 FARGO, N.D. (AP) A man accused of beating up three people outside a downtown Fargo bar is facing a new charge since one of the victims has died. Court documents show that Darren Patterson, of St. Paul, was charged Tuesday with fel- ony manslaughter. The charge says Patterson caused the of James Grant by punching him in the head, causing Grant to fall back- ward and hit his head on the ground.

Grant died earlier this month. Patterson is also charged with aggravated assault and simple assault for punching two other men outside the HoDo bar. A preliminary hearing is set for June 29.
