Joseph, Minn. Two of the instructors at the college. Sr. M. Thomas and Sr.

M. Kristen, have included several professional pieces demonstrating the use of unusual media in the field of liturgical art. Copper wire has been used effectively on a background of wood to delineate the figures of the "Crucifixion" while a piece of ordinary blackboard slate holds the figure of the "Madonna" etched on its surface. Of the oil paintings in the group, "The Last Supper" and "Mary Magdalen" are of special interest because of the unusual arrangement and design effect of the first and the lovely luminous quality of the color in the second. Clever and imaginative desicn work and calligraphy complete the collection.

The students have combined bits of newspaper with tern-era painting on black backdrops for interesting abstract effects. One of the tempera designs depicts the Nativity scene and another Little Red Riding Hood strolling through the wood to Grandmother's house, while a scratchboard design of India ink over waxed red paper offers another abstraction. Lettering done by Helen McNab, an armless girl who uses her feet in manipulating the brush or pen. shows great skill and precision of execution.
