Self-Winding Watch First District President to Visit Legion Auxiliary A musical program and the visit' of the district president will highlight the meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Tuesday evening in the American Legion Memorial clubrooms. A potluck supper, scheduled for 6:15 p.m. will precede the meeting. Members and their husbands and friends are invited to attend the supper, for which reservations must be made by Monday noon with Mrs.

Leroy Rothr chairman. Mrs. Cecil Campbell, Ellendale, First District president, will be the principal speaker at the meeting of the Auxiliary. A musical program will be presented by the "Four Kings" quartet, composed of Keith Tschum-per, Bruce Bauer, Leroy Anderson and William Ziebell, with Margaret Riggs as accompanist. All Auxiliary members and prospective members are invited to attend the meeting and program.

CIRCLE THREE Circle Three of Grace Presbyterian Church will meet Wednesday at 2:30 p. m. in the church basement. All women of the union are to come and bring one ornament for the Christmas tree. The church will be decorated at this meeting.

An exchange of 50-cent gifts will precede the lunch served by members of Circle Three. STOCKTON WSCS STOCKTON, Minn. (Special) The Womarfs Society of Christian Service will meet Thursday at 2 p. m. in the church social room.

3rd was among 223 new members who were initiated into Sigma Xi, national honorary scientific society, at its annual dinner held recently at the University of Wisconsin. il y. th i 2 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The chapter also will hold its annual Christmas bazaar of handicraft articles at that time.

The exhibit comes here from New York City where it has just closed, and will be open to the general public at the college until the college closes for the Christmas holidays. Among the articles offered for sale will be handpainted cocktail trays, sequin-decorated felt glass cases, net Christmas tree angels, copper jewelry, hand-blocked Christmas cards, Christmas candles, etched Christmas cards, hand-painted luncheon and bridge sets, hand-enameled tiles, textile-decorated painted sheets and pillow cases, colored aprons with hand-stenciled insets, coffee carafes, ceramic figurines and other craft projects. John Marin who was born in Rutherford, N. studied to be an architect and followed that occupation for several years. His interest was in painting and after study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, he continued his work at the Art Students League in New York, and in Europe.

He received many honors including honorary doctorate degrees at Yale University and the University of Maine and numerous retrospective exhibitions in this country and abroad. He was considered America's "Artist No. 1" as a result of a poll in which he received the unanimous vote in 1948 of 68 leading museum directors as the nation's chief artist. Marin's work is represented' in almost every important private collection and in more than 50 public museums including the Metropolitan, the Whitney and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the Fogg Art Museum in Cambridge, the Art Institute in Chicago and others. Pouring at the preview tea will be Mrs.

Proceeds of the bazaar sale will be used to sponsor activities of the chapter including a trip to visit the art galleries in Chicago. All articles in the sale have been hand made or decorated by chapter members. Chairman for the tea is Mrs. Howard Winona, assisted by Miss Joan Bassett, Pine Island, Minn. President of the sponsoring organization is Jon Sontag, Winona vice president.
